At-Home Natural Hangover Remedies

A hangover cure can come in handy when you accidentally overindulge on the libations. A hangover can sneak up and occur even with the slightest buzz the night before. Because you’re not 18 anymore, you feel it. Here are 3 at-home hangover cures to help you bounce back fast:

1. Drink water with lemon. Place a couple of slices of lemon in your glass of water. Because alcohol is dehydrating, water will help replenish your fluids and flush toxins. The lemon is sour and astringing and goes to the liver to help with the detox process. It has Vitamin C which will help perk you up for the day. Lemon water is also great for alleviating headaches and brain fog.

2. Take magnesium. Magnesium is a wonder supplement. Unfortunately, most of the U.S. population is deficient in it so you may consider taking it regularly. It relaxes the muscles and helps relieve pain and spasms. We recommend taking 100% daily value.

You have a couple of options with choosing magnesium: you can take it in pill form, you can eat chocolate (which contains magnesium), or you can take an Epsom salt bath. Of course doing all three is an option as well. If you decide to take an Epsom salt bath, we recommend adding 1-1.5 cups of the salt to your warm bath, soaking for about 15-20 minutes, and rinsing off in the shower afterward to prevent dehydration. Taking magnesium will help you feel less pain, increase your sense of well-being, and get rid of that icky hangover feeling.

3. Rub your scalp (or have someone else do it). Do you love it when you get your scalp rubbed at the salon? Here’s why: there are a bunch of acupuncture points on your scalp. When you press or massage your scalp, you activate these points and increase circulation through the whole body. A scalp rub can also help alleviate headaches, tension and stress.

Try one of these tips or do all three and you’ll be feeling better in no time. What do you do to recover from a hangover? Leave your tip in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you!
